2015 Festival for the Future

Festival for the Future is an exciting 3 day event aimed at inspiring and empowering young New Zealanders to take action and control of a better future.  We were fortunate to play multiple roles in the event – contributing towards “interactive styling” elements, developing a festival-wide metagame and running a creative problem-solving workshop for festival goers.

Working closely with the FFTF team, we designed, produced, coordinated and installed a series of interactive installations to inspire dialogue between participants and the themes of the festival.  These included question/dialogue posts, an analogue yearbook and interactive artworks.

To further engage and encourage social interaction between participants throughout the length of the festival, we created a card-based metagame culminating in prizes for the winners during the closing ceremony.

Our highlight of the festival was the inaugural facilitation of our ‘Wild Ambitions’ workshop – a creatively playful exploration into the world of business through the lens of tribes of animals living on their own island paradise.  Participants were invited to create businesses as a tribe of animals and share specific business problems with other tribes, who would then turn those problems into opportunities for their business.  A highly engaging, fun and raucous time was had by all, with underlying themes of problem solving, collaborative storytelling and creative, serious play.
