Taranaki Adventures (a working title) is a new project about creating memorable adventures in the Taranaki region, highlighting the treasures the region has to offer and enticing travellers to stay and linger.
This project is being funded through Venture Taranaki and the South Taranaki District Council.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The goal of the project is to give people more reasons to travel and stop along the way when they are out and about in the region (especially outside the main populated areas), in turn supporting local businesses and showcasing the region to locals and visitors alike.
The project will be based around a digital app which will offer a selection of curated mystery road-trip routes, provide prompts for playful games and activities while travelling, and offer fun ‘real world’ activities in each location visited, all within a themed story experience.
For the initial version, the area of focus is along SH45 from New Plymouth to Hāwera.
The initial live prototype is due to go live by mid-November 2022, to be ready for Summer travellers.
